If you\u2019re someone who has gotten dentures<\/a> recently, you\u2019re probably reveling in how incredible you look now compared to when you didn\u2019t have them. However, you may still be getting used to how it feels to have your prosthetic in your mouth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the biggest hurdles to get over is often learning to eat with your dentures in. At first, eating normally might even feel like an impossible task, but with time it\u2019ll become second nature. Here are a few things you can do to make mealtimes with dentures much easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

#1: Start Off Soft<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As with anything, it\u2019s usually best to start off small. The best thing to do when you first get your new prosthetic is to work softer foods into your diet. Obviously soup and oatmeal are easy choices, but you should probably expand your horizons beyond that if you want to have a rounded diet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sounds simple, but if you don\u2019t have one you may want to invest in a decent blender. Blending together healthy fruits, vegetables, and yogurts can help you get the nutrients you need without putting pressure on your dentures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#2: Eat Slowly & Carefully<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019re probably not used to thinking about how you eat, but chewing with dentures is a distinct skillset. When it comes time to eat, you shouldn\u2019t do so in a hurry\u2014sit down and take the time to cut your meal into small, bite size pieces that are easily chewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should also make sure that you\u2019re chewing with both sides of your mouth, as opposed to just one, in order to avoid putting undue pressure on just one side of your mouth. Finally, try and drink while eating to soften and wash down your food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#3: Foods To Avoid Altogether<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Even when you\u2019re a pro at eating with your dentures, there are some foods that you should probably stay away from altogether. For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
